Dubai International Capital has taken over the Doncasters Group, a British company which supplies the U.S. military. On April 29th Bush endorsed the deal after the Committee on Foreign Investments approved it. You may remember a similar transaction occurring in March between DP World, another Dubai company, and British shipping company P&O for the operating rights of 6 U.S. ports. However, DP relinquished their rights after an outcry in Congress occurred over the security of the deal. There is no word yet as to whether this deal will cause a similar objection.

In my opinion, we should safeguard our economy against Arab-owned corporations, thereby sending a strong message to the rest of the world. That message is that Americans can’t tell the difference between Arabs! We sent that message loud and clear when we entered Iraq for 9/11, and we’re sending it now with our fear of Arabs in general, regardless of nationality or political ties. The Western World is constantly criticizing the Muslim World for not being modern. Well, Dubai is about as modern as Arab nations come. They even exceed us in certain measures of modernity. So is it wrong of me to think that we’re being just a bit hypocritical? England is not Germany, and Dubai is not Saudi Arabia. We can’t send invitations to play, then kick sand in their face when they show up. Arabs are damned if they do, and damned if they don’t.

  1. Well, lets just hope their racism is overpowered by their greed. Otherwise we’d be fucked.
