I know when I’m looking for political persuasion, I always turn to entertainers first. They’re just so charismatic! Who cares if they know what they’re talking about so long as they look/sound good!

seems a bit hypocritical for an artist, like yourself, to critique another artist for having an opinion. as far as SOAD goes, their political views are far more rational than most politicians i’ve heard lately. i believe in focusing on the message, rather than the messenger. opinions are dismissible by their degree of logic, not by the character of their author.

I don’t think it’s hypocritical at all. Just because I’m an artist doesn’t make me any more insightful into social issues. It annoys me when celebrities use their fame to influence their sycophant fans to vote the way they want. Next time I see Bono, Angelina Jolie or Sean Penn I’m going to bitch slap them for their pretentious idiocy. It all goes back to our cultures sick and twisted worshipping of celebrities.

@Kaziglu Bey
I said it’s hypocritical because you’re dismissing their opinions based on the fact that they’re artists. You’re telling us not to listen to artists, so if we shouldn’t listen to artists then we shouldn’t be listening to you in the first place.
Not to mention, I think SOAD and Bono have done alot of good with their power to influence. Would you rather they use their fame to sell their own lines of jewelry and fragrances? Pretentious or not, if someone has the power to make other people’s lives better then by all means let them.
