Okay, maybe they didn’t blatantly say it, but it sure seems like their overall intention is to piss off their Arab neighbors. With dozens of innocent Palestinians dead, Israel has now attacked Lebanon. I wouldn’t be surprised if Syria, Iran, and eventually China were to be pulled into the scuffle if this keeps up. Do you think Israel would be blood-thirsty enough or outright stupid enough to escalate this into a nuclear war? Of course they would, and America would undoubtedly get involved. So to get the party started on this cruise down Apocalypse lane I’ll be giving you a block of three new Israel stories. Enjoy the ride.

7/11/06 - Palestinians Stranded at Border:
Around 580 Palestinians needing medical attention have been stranded at the Rafah border crossing, between Egypt and Gaza, for two weeks after the Egyptian side of the border was closed by Israel on June 25th. Israel offered the Palestinians to go through Kerem Shalom but Palestinians said Rafah should be opened. “Why now move things to Kerem Shalom? If we move it to Kerem Shalom, we’re worried they will close Rafah for good,” said Saeb Erekat, an aide to the Palestinian president. While the Egyptian Red Crescent provided humanitarian support, two people, including a 15-year-old boy who had a heart surgery in Cairo, have already died while waiting on the border, not allowed to proceed into Gaza nor go back to Egypt.

7/12/06 - Israel Invades Lebanon:
Israeli warplanes have struck at Lebanese bridges killing at least two civilians in southern Lebanon. Ground forces have crossed the Lebanese border in response to a Hezbollah claim that it abducted two Israeli soldiers. This comes at a time when Israel is currently engaged in a major offensive with Palestinian civilians. In an ironic statement, the Prime Minister of Israel said, “The Lebanese government, of which Hezbollah is a part, is trying to shake regional stability.” As if Palestine and Lebanon weren’t enough, American and Israeli officials are also placing blame on Syria for the abduction of the Israeli soldier in Gaza last month because Syria plays host to Hamas. Using that logic couldn’t we make the argument that America is to blame for any white supremacist crime in the world since it plays host to the Aryan Nation?

7/13/06 - Israel Bombs Beirut International Airport:
Israeli Defense Forces have confirmed the bombing of Beirut International Airport, forcing its closure. Beirut International Airport is the country’s only international airport. Planes were forced to divert because of this attack, and subsequent forced closure. Immediate reports of casualties arising from this latest attack have yet to be confirmed. An Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson has accused Hezbollah of using the international airport as a “weapons hub”. Israeli warships have also blockaded Lebanese ports saying that Israeli is there to block the transfer of “terrorists and weapons”. This action comes as 35 Lebanese civilians, including 10 children, were killed overnight in Israeli raids on southern Lebanon. Subsequently, eight Israeli soldiers and one Israeli civilian have died in the conflict. Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev says Israeli was responding to “an unprovoked act of aggression” by Lebanon. So far, France and Russia have condemned Israel’s “disproportionate use of force”. I personally think Israel won’t be happy until it bombs every square inch of the middle east to ensure that all the “terrorists” are dead.
