Cancer Researchers Turn Over a New Leaf

Tests conducted at Southern Cross University in New South Wales have shown that an extract from olive leaves can kill prostate and breast cancer cells. “The effects that we found were lethal in that they would actually kill the cells if you like,” Dr. Lesley Stevensen said. “But the levels of the compound that were required to do that were fairly high and therefore you would have to be taking very high amounts of the product to get the results that were seen in the laboratory.”

Hopefully, further research will produce a viable and affordable treatment. In my opinion, more energy should also be put into promoting natural cures that have proven to be effective. Independent studies show that vitamin D and ginseng can cut your chances of getting cancer in half. Red ginseng can cut it by up to 80 percent. We’ve also known for some time that intravenous vitamin C in the form of ascorbate and drinking non-sweetened Noni juice can kill cancer. Though I suppose the real problem with the treatments and cures I just listed are that they’re not profitable for the pharmaceutical industry (which made $550 billion in global revenue in 2004).
