Hotel heiress Paris Hilton has declared that she is this decade’s “iconic blonde”. Speaking to the British press, Hilton says she is sick of the way she’s portrayed in the media as a dumb blonde, and insists that she is a savvy businesswoman. In The Sunday Times, a British newspaper, Hilton said, “There’s nobody in the world like me. I think every decade has an iconic blonde - like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana - and right now, I’m that icon. I read these stories about me starting fights and saying stupid stuff. I’ve become a cartoon… I play dumb like Jessica Simpson plays dumb. But we know exactly what we’re doing. We’re smart blondes”.

So she’s a “smart blonde” who “plays dumb” but is upset that people actually think she is dumb? Hmmm, sounds pretty retarded to me. But what’s even more outrageous than Hilton comparing herself to Monroe and humanitarian Princess Diana is the following story:

Paris Hilton is thrilled to be playing Mother Teresa in an upcoming biopic. The hotel heiress has been approached by award-winning director T Rajeevnath, who is convinced that she will be a huge success. “My agents in California have contacted Paris Hilton. I think she’ll be a hit,” he explained… In preparation for the role, Paris is apparently joining the Order of Mother Teresa missionaries, and will travel around Bangalore and Calcutta to care for the sick. A source told the Daily Star, “Paris is tougher than most people think. But I don’t think she knows what she’s let herself in for. The Calcutta nuns are notoriously strict, so she will have to be on her best behaviour.”

Saying it’s blasphemous for a whore to play a saint may be a bit of a stretch and ultimately subjective, but there is an obvious lack of respect for the principles of the person Rajeevnath’s making a movie about. It’d be like casting a notoriously violent person to play MLK or a bulimic to play Ghandi. And I’m sorry, but Ben Kingsley looks more like Mother Theresa than Paris Hilton. The director’s obviously going for sensationalism by casting her.
