Environ-Mental Damage

Jim Inhofe, a Republican Senator from Oklahoma and chairman of the Committee on Environment and Public Works, called global warming “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.” Inhofe went on to compare environmentalists to Nazis by claiming that global warming is tantamount to “the big lie” fabricated by the Third Reich. The senator argued against studies which show that polar bear populations are shrinking, such as the one written by the World Conservation Union. He also denounced evidence that glaciers around the world are disappearing, insisting that some in Glacier National Park are actually getting bigger. Scoffing at even the suggestion that Americans could help by conserving energy and driving more fuel efficient cars Inhofe said, “It is not going to make any difference, but if it makes them feel good, they can do it.”

Just to reiterate, the chairman of the Committee on Environment and Public Works compared environmentalists to Nazis. That’s like the chairman of the Committee on Education calling academic scholars Conquistadors. Inhofe is one of the most conservative senators, which is saying a lot. During the Abu Ghraib prisoner scandal Inhofe said he was “outraged by the outrage”, saying that the outcry over the abuse was more criminal than the abuse itself. He’s also against gay rights of any kind, and has called the Red Cross the “bleeding heart”. If all that wasn’t enough, Inhofe bases his pro-Israel stance on his skewed religious beliefs. In a Senate speech Inhofe said, “I believe very strongly that we ought to support Israel; that it has a right to the land. This is the most important reason: Because God said so. As I said a minute ago, look it up in the book of Genesis… This is not a political battle at all. It is a contest over whether or not the word of God is true.” Ladies and gentlemen, your tax dollars at work.

  1. […] There’s another group of people I can think of who also had the expressed intent of completely wiping out entire civilian populations. Hmmm, what other genocidal military fascists could I possibly be thinking of? Here’s a hint: it’s not the environmentalists (regardless of what Jim Inhofe says). source […]

  2. This dipshit typofies the amount of ignorance that is A) Standard for all Religious Fanatical rhetoric regarding anything Rational, Logical, and/or Scientifically Fact Based, and B) Rampant in a regime that completely ignores, and ironically simultaneously throws into sharp contrast the necessity of, Separation of Church and State.
