Ignorant to the fact that Arab’s are also Semitic, Howard Dean called Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki an “anti-Semite” for failing to denounce Hezbollah. Dean went further by saying, “We don’t need to spend $200 and $300 and $500 billion bringing democracy to Iraq to turn it over to people who believe that Israel doesn’t have a right to defend itself and who refuse to condemn Hezbollah.” However, Dean was not the only Democrat ignorant to the situation in Lebanon. On Tuesday, leading Senate Democrats said in a letter that the Iraqi Prime Minister’s “failure to condemn Hezbollah’s aggression and recognize Israel’s right to defend itself raises serious questions about whether Iraq under (al-Maliki’s) leadership can play a constructive role in resolving the current crisis and bringing stability to the Middle East.” Well in my humble opinion, the Democrats’ failure to condemn Israel’s disproportionate aggression also raises serious questions. Blindly supporting Israel’s genocide against neighboring Muslims is hardly the way to bring stability to the Middle East.

Furthering his goal to collect brownie points with voters, Dean used the opportunity to criticize Bush. “He’s always talking about those people. It’s always somebody else’s fault. It’s the gays’ fault. It’s the immigrants’ fault. It’s the liberals’ fault. It’s the Democrats’ fault. It’s Hollywood people,” Dean said. “Americans are sick of that. Even if you win elections doing that, you drag down our country.” Sadly, if Dean hadn’t already used the opportunity to blame somebody else, namely Hezbollah and the PM of Iraq, for Middle East instability, his remarks might’ve been insightful rather than hypocritical.

One Response to “Howard Dean is an Idiot”

  1. This whole question of whether or not Israel has the right to defend itself is just one big Clusterfuck of a smokescreen. Of course any country that is attacked has the right to defend itself, but according to international law, Military action in self defense must be PROPORTIONATE. Not balanced, per se, but proportionate. Now given this Geneva statute, it is utterly plain that Israel’s all out war against the civilian infrastructure in Lebanon is severely disproportionate to the abduction of 2 Israeli soldiers. Of course we, as the US, while potentially having a great influence in urging Israel to back off, would in fact open up an all new encompassing wave of criticism if WE denounced our ally for breaking international law. I think France in particular would have a field day. Not that I don’t think the US should still take a role in Ending this violence, particularly on Israel’s part, but I’m just pointing out the idiotic hole we as a country dug for ourselves, and in that situation, we can’t really get out of it without getting our nice suits all dirty…
