So I was listening to a commercial on the radio (what else is there on the radio?), and I heard the most amazing promotion in the history of my insignificant life. It was for the Nike Run Hit Remix in LA on September 24th. That’s not the amazing part. The amazing part is that they said Coolio and Vanilla Ice would be performing, as if it was truly a great thing. If you check out the event flyer, which I linked above, you’ll notice there is only mention of De La Soul, Young MC, and Digital Underground. In fact, the commercial seems to be the only source promoting Coolio and Vanilla Ice. I can understand why Nike would be embarrassed about these two being part of their already washed-up lineup, but why have a circus of gimps if you’re not going to celebrate their absurdity? I think Nike should let Vanilla Ice headline or even have a rap duet between him and Coolio. Maybe then I’d be forced to suspend my own boycott of Nike and purchase a ticket for that shitfest. Actually, forget the music all together. Lets get De La Soul, Young MC, Digital Underground, Coolio, and Vanilla Ice to race through an obstacle course where a gift certificate to Wal-Mart awaits the winner. The end result would look something like a cross between American Gladiators and the Jerry Springer Show. Second place gets a hot meal and a blanket. Third place gets to eat fourth place.
