We all knew it would happen sometime. Finally, Wilford Brimley came out with a techno mix highlighting his unique pronunciation of the word “diabetes”.

  1. OH hahaha, diabetes are so funny! My grandmother and great grandmother both died of complications from diabetes, my older brother who is a year older than me was just diagnosed with it, and my dad has pre-diabetes. I’ll probably get it too. That video isn’t in very good taste.

  2. @Kaziglu Bey

I don’t see how the video is making fun of diabetes anymore than Team America made fun of AIDS. The target of the joke seems to be Wilford Brimley, not diabetes.

  3. I agree overwhelmingly with the admin here! Of course there’s nothing funny about diabetes, AIDS, or any other disease (I have a disability myself); but that’s not the point here… Wilford Brimley’s crazy way of saying the word is being poked fun at, and what’s better in this world than being able to take things with some humor sprinkled on them, rather than being on the offensive right off the bat every time? I was falling out laughing at this video, simply because I’ve always thought he says that word funny, and I was just tripping out that someone else not only noticed it, but took the time to be creative and make a remix of it for us to catch a good laugh at. If this offends you, you might seriously think about lightening up a little, and perhaps lowering your sensitivity just a little… we all have fears about things that run in our families, or took away one of our loved ones; but laughing about this video or being offended, either one, aren’t going to change whether or not my risk or yours is ever realized during our lifetimes. And at the same time, don’t forget that people who see the humor in life and worry less tend to live longer and recover from illness better overall than those who don’t anyway.

  4. Actually, ‘Die-beetis’ is a common pronounciation of the disease in regions of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas…there are probably Southern states included in this dialect as well but these are the three states that I am familiar with.

  5. I live in Texas. Have all my life. We don’t speak like that unless we’re drunk or unless we’re Wilford Brimley.

  6. Wilford Brimley is awesome!!!
