Speaking to thousand of veterans at the American Legion’s national convention, Rumsfeld almost admitted the truth by saying that we face a “new type of fascism”. Unfortunately, it seems he was talking about Muslims fighting occupation, rather than the Bush administration fighting civilians (Apparently, Islamofascism is the most recent buzzword the neo-cons have a hard on for, due to its historically inaccurate description and ability to offend an entire religion).

Rumsfeld went on to compare all forms of criticism towards the “war on terror” to the failure of western powers in stopping the Nazis sooner. He drew a direct correlation between then and now as “a time when a certain amount of cynicism and moral confusion set in among the Western democracies.” He then had the audacity to preach, “It is apparent that many have still not learned history’s lessons.” Apparently, human rights activists and protestors for peace are akin to Nazi sympathizers. By going on the offensive to attack critics of the administration, Rumsfeld is effectively saying that freedom of speech aids fascism. Does that make sense to anyone with even a minimal understanding of the Constitution? Perhaps I’m just too set in my Anti-war/Nazi ways to grasp Rummy’s watertight logic.

Several political opponents (AKA Nazi sympathizers) were critical of Rumsfeld’s speech as well. Sen. Jack Reed said, “It’s a political rant to cover up his incompetence.” Reed said he took exception to Rumsfeld’s implication that critics were unpatriotic, citing “scores of patriotic Americans of both parties who are highly critical of his handling of the Department of Defense.” Rep. John Murtha said, “It’s interesting to me that they generalize the support for the war. They’re not realistic with the fact that there’s no progress.” Rummy ought to focus more attention on the bloodbath he’s caused in the middle east rather than curse at the people telling him his fly is down. But then again, what do I know? I’m just a critic whose opinion is invalid because… well, I’m a critic.

  1. Oh heeeello!
forget Rumsfeld, who’s the one behind him??
    =P

  2. Of course, I doubt if Rumsfelt even realized the big steaming pile of duality he stepped in. “Islamofacism” as opposed to what, “JudeoChristianSocialism?” This is about as nonsensical as “BuddhaConfucionistAnarchism.” Obviously, I think he meant t “Islamofacism” as opposed to “JudeoChristianoDemocracy,” but historically, this is contradictory. (BTW, it was the so called Pagan Greeks that founded democracy as we know it today…) He also insinuates, by adding the “Islamo-” that somehow this form of Fascism is somehow worse than normal Fascism. As one who opposes Fascism in any form, I find this denomination unecessary, false, and insulting to my intelligence.

  3. Where do you get these pictures?! lol

  4. […] The US Defense Department has set up a new unit to better promote its propaganda across 24-hour news outlets. Earlier this year, Rumsfeld criticized critics of the war for allowing the media to fall into the hands of the enemy. “That’s the thing that keeps me up at night,” said Rummy. […]
