Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, took the floor at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, and said things we’ve all wanted to say to a worldwide audience. “The devil came here yesterday,” the ever lovable Chavez declared, referring to Bush’s address on Tuesday. “He came here talking as if he were the owner of the world.” Chavez joked that he could still smell the sulfur at the podium, and implored Americans to stop the “domination, exploitation and pillage of peoples of the world,” carried out by the American government. “We appeal to the people of the United States and the world to halt this threat, which is like a sword hanging over our head,” Chavez said. At times he received applause from the audience, specifically when he referred to US foreign policy as “imperialism”.
Hugo then went on to criticize the UN for being “undemocratic” in its present state, saying that the United State’s “immoral veto” made continued Israeli bombings in Lebanon possible for over a month. “Venezuela once again proposes today that we reform the United Nations,” he said. Currently, the United States is trying to block Venezuela from obtaining a rotating seat on the UN Security Council by promoting the more American-friendly nation of Guatemala. The US government warns that Venezuela, which has allied with Iran, Syria, and Cuba, would upset the status quo if elected to the council. If elected during next month’s secret-ballot vote, Chavez said Venezuela would be “the voice of the Third World.”

I don’t really disagree with this on Spiritual Grounds, I disagree with this on Philosophical Ones. I just can’t believe the Devil could be that stupid, especially THAT stupid.

[…] In Alaska, the heating oil prices are amongst the highest in the nation, and yet a few villages are actually refusing an offer of free oil from Venezuela. The refusal of this much needed resource is a direct result of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez calling Bush “the devil” and a terrorist. “As a citizen of this country, you can have your own opinion of our president and our country. But I don’t want a foreigner coming in here and bashing us,” said Justine Gunderson, administrator for the tribal council in the Aleut village of Nelson Lagoon. In Gunderson’s village, temperatures can drop to minus-15. Residents pay at least $300 a month on oil, and about one quarter of the village is unemployed. Still, Gunderson insists that “even though we’re in economically dire straits, it was the right choice to make.” […]
