The summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Havana, Cuba consisted of 118 countries. Cuban President Fidel Castro, recuperating from a gastric illness, was unable to appear for the event, but met privately with some of the dignitaries in his hospital room. Despite his absence, Castro was duly elected President of the Non-Aligned Movement for the next three years at the suggestion of Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Representing almost two-thirds of all the countries in the world, the delegates approved a document outlining the points they agree on. There was a call for the UN to be more representative of smaller nations, strong condemnation of Israels actions towards Lebanon, support for Irans nuclear energy plans, and widespread criticism of US foreign policy. Many of the world leaders used their seven minutes at the podium to express their frustration with the Bush administration. Such hatred towards a common enemy even led to the Prime Minister of India and President of Pakistan to re-start their peace talks.

One Response to “Hatred of America Brings the World Together”

  1. Haha! As unintentional as this is, the NeoCon Agenda’s recent record of healing age-long rifts between nations, peoples, and cultures unifying in common and positive causes may actually hurt our hopes for ousting these fuckers from our government. Let’s just hope they don’t figure it out, there’ll be no living with them then…
