B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, has published that 3,733 Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza have been killed by Israeli forces in the past six years. The figures came out on the 28th of September, which marks the sixth anniversary of the second Palestinian uprising. At least 1,812, or almost half of those killed were not taking part in any form of hostile behavior when they were murdered. Of that figure, 208 were the victims of a “targeted killing”, usually being an airstrike aimed at suspected militants. B’Tselem also stated that 767, around 20 percent, of those killed were minors.

On the other side, Palestinians have killed 697 Israeli civilians (5 times less than the Palestinian casualties), and that 119, around 17 percent, of the Israeli civilians killed were minors. In addition, B’Tselem says that 314 members of the Israeli security forces were killed by Palestinians.

Aside from deaths attributed to Israeli security forces, B’Tselem says that 41 Palestinians were also murdered by Israeli civilians. Inside Israel, 60 Palestinians were killed by Israeli security forces. The Israeli human rights group’s total comes to 3,834 Palestinians killed in the past six years, while the Associated Press puts their figure even higher at 4,015. Recently, the living conditions of Palestinians in the occupied territories was described as “ethnic cleansing” by John Dugard, a special UN human rights envoy.
