Here’s an interesting fact: The United States has a higher percentage of its black population in prison than South Africa did at the height of apartheid. If you think that’s shocking, watch this video and learn more facts. There is a brief Dutch introduction, but the rest of the program is in English with Dutch subtitles. War on Drugs: The Prison Industrial Complex is a 1999 documentary. Not surprisingly, this program was never broadcasted in the US.

What does someone’s race have to do with whether they’re locked up in the US? If someone stole a car stereo or shot someone, I want that person behind bars whether they’re black or white. There should not be “affirmative action” in mind when handing out prison sentences.
Drug offenses are another matter entirely, as I don’t believe someone should be sent to prison for endangering their own health.

@Kaziglu Bey
you should’ve watched the video before commenting. the majority of black people locked up are there because of drug related offenses.

[…] Colorado’s Amendment 44 would allow the possession of up to an ounce of marijuana for adults 21 and older. Opponents of the amendment, including Governor Bill Owens and law enforcement officers, held a rally against the measure in Denver. Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener called the proposal to legalize small amounts of weed “irresponsible”. Law enforcement is generally opposed to the legalization of marijuana due to the amount of revenue they make from its illegality. However, supporters of the measure drowned out Wegener’s speech with boos. Among the supporters was former police Chief Norman Stamper of Seattle. On the issue of marijuana, Stamper said, “I have never spoken to a police officer who has contended that marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol.” If rationality wins out, Amendment 44 would make Colorado the only state in the US to legalize the possession of marijuana for all purposes. The person who connected this with racism towards black people are clearly racist people that have nothing but anger in them. As said before, this is clearly about the illegalization of drugs and not about going out to get black people because their black. Uneducated people such as this are the ones who are clearly making it difficult for blacks and whites to just get along, like so many of us do. We’re in different times now; get over it. You only create more hate with hate.
