On his way to an exclusive campaign event at the Duquesne Club, where U.S. Senator Rick Santorum was holding a fundraiser, Governor or Florida Jeb Bush was greeted by 50 anti-war protestors. Immediately deciding to cut and run, Jeb hid in a subway station supply closet to avoid their dangerous words. “It was a very tense situation. They were very close to the governor and shouting on top of him,” Bob Grove, a Port Authority spokesman reported. Officers zapped two protestors with stun guns.

Bush taunted the protesters, members of the United Steelworkers union and the Uprise Counter Recruitment group, by blowing them kisses as they chanted, “Jeb go home.” Jon Vandenburgh, a protester and researcher for the United Steelworkers said, “(Bush) was quickly getting out of the way and not wanting to engage us.” Jeb hid in the station supply closet with an aide and security guard until the crowd left. The incident lasted for about 5 minutes and no one was arrested or cited. The governor later attended the fundraiser at the Duquesne Club, but it is unknown whether or not he was allowed to sit at the big kids table.
