A struggling and virtually unknown corporation named Wal-Mart, known best for its spotless record, has reached an agreement to buy a chain of Trust-Mart stores in China for about $1 billion. The Wall Street Journal reported that the purchase of Trust-Mart could give Wal-Mart the biggest food and department store network in China. Wal-Mart is already the world’s largest retailer with gross sales exceeding the GNP of many countries. With access to China’s fast-growing market, the anti-union corporation of Wal-Mart can only get bigger.

So if everything in American Wal-Marts is made in China, where is the merchandise in the Chinese Wal-Marts going to be made? Perhaps the next Wal-Mart article will say “Wal-Mart to Seek Business Opportunities in North Korea”.
