Colorado’s Amendment 44 would allow the possession of up to an ounce of marijuana for adults 21 and older. Opponents of the amendment, including Governor Bill Owens and law enforcement officers, held a rally against the measure in Denver. Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener called the proposal to legalize small amounts of weed “irresponsible”.
Law enforcement is generally opposed to the legalization of marijuana due to the amount of revenue they make from its illegality. However, supporters of the measure drowned out Wegener’s speech with “boos”. Among the supporters was former police Chief Norman Stamper of Seattle. On the issue of marijuana, Stamper said, “I have never spoken to a police officer who has contended that marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol.” If rationality wins out, Amendment 44 would make Colorado the only state in the US to legalize the possession of marijuana for all purposes.

Damn, when I saw the picture I thought they were giving out free beers to people who voted for the amendment. That would have been a cool campaign that would be guaranteed to succeed!
But why do they always have to criticize alcohol when clamoring for the legalization of marijuana? It’s not an either/or thing, people, I want both!

Federal law is simply the tax act of 1937. The executive branch maintains unconstitional law enforcment powers.
But, the argument decriminalization supporters need is “prevent violent crime” When something is made illegal a black market responds.”The more rules you make, the more theives you create.”
Anyone familiar with the tenth amendment? Federal law is limited to interstate commerce.
Colorado can make up for it’s lost revenue by providing the Fed with their stinkin’ one dollar, and also tax for themselves. Maybe the morons at SAFER can actually address these issues next year.
Decriminalization = less crime. Less crime = safer communities.
In short Colorado needs to pull it’s head out and do this the right way.
Perhaps then, you decoycrat fools can actually win conservative support.
Until then your a bunch of dissfuntional stoners.

the fact is the goverment has distorted the perecption of marajuana since weve seen the plant. look into it and youll find all kinds of propaganda commercials that were used to get states against marajuana, i mean if the goverment cant make profit noone can! so now that people have the ability to look into the subject the simple fact is that marajuana’s only side affects are lack of motivation (temporary), a relaxed state, and if theyre driving its to get mcdonalds and theyre so paranoid they drive under the speed limit and actuall obey MORE laws. this is all based on experience and actual studies. marajuana is far less harmful than alchohol and yet we legalize the worse of two evils, when we have so many drunk driving accidents each year, virtually NO ONE is hospitalized for a marajuana related occurance, unless it occure while recieving it (which is what MAY change if people vote intelligently)
