Democrats Take the House

Yes, it finally happened. The lesser of two evils has won control of the House of Representatives, and for the first time, a woman is Speaker of the House. The Republicans say Pelosi is a far-left looney. However, she’s said that when in power, her party will not impeach the president. A fairly moderate statement in my opinion. Let’s hope that was just political banter to ensure voters aren’t scared to vote Democratic, otherwise we’ll have more of the same. I’ve heard politicians say we need to go back to the center and unite the country. No, no we don’t. We actually need to go further left and join the civilized world. Impeaching Bush would be a nice first step, along with getting out of Iraq and fixing our education system. An educated nation is a liberal nation. Anything less than that is inexcusable.

We’ll keep you updated on the Senate.

  1. Take a moment, and help convince Nancy Pelosi to Impeach..

The day the nation demands impeachment is upon us. Sacks and sacks of mail are about to arrive in Nancy Pelosi’s office initiating impeachment via the House of Representative’s own rules. This legal document is as binding as if a State or if the House itself passed the impeachment resolution (H.R. 635).

There’s a little known and rarely used clause of the “Jefferson Manual” in the rules for the House of Representatives which sets forth the various ways in which a president can be impeached. Only the House Judiciary Committee puts together the Articles of Impeachment, but before that happens, someone has to initiate the process.

That’s where we come in. In addition to a House Resolution (635), or the State-by-State method, one of the ways to get impeachment going is for individual citizens like you and me to submit a memorial. ImpeachforPeace.org has created a new memorial based on one which was successful in impeaching a federal official in the past. You can find it on their website as a PDF.

You can initiate the impeachment process and simultaneously help to convince Pelosi to follow through with the process. Do-It-Yourself by downloading the memorial, filling in the relevant information in the blanks (your name, state, etc.), and sending it in. Be a part of history.

  2. Well, I am not convinced about sending the nation into an impeachment saga. Actually, I think that would be horrible. Don’t get me wrong, Bush is the worst thing since… ever. Rather, I would love to see Dems move forward with legislation that reverberates with voters (oil companies, education, student loans, the environment), and move forward with a slightly progressive ideology. In turn, this might just build up a the movement that is needed so they maintain power in 2008 and put a president that is not Hillary Clinton in the whitehouse. Then we have something. Implementing a 2008 and beyond strategy would be the realization of yesterday’s awesomeness. 2009 could be the start of something new….

…If they instead move backward and mudsling about people and events that were more than obvious over 5 years ago… don’t you think that would waste the best opportunity they have for actually doing something and moving forward.

Hmmm, wait, this is the democrats we are talking about. Nevermind. Stewart & Colbert might actually be funnier when they rip on dems squandering all of this and implode….

  3. While I do agree that the war in Iraq was an egregious mistake made by Premier Bush and his cronies, it would be the same error to fully pull our troops out at this point. There is far too much riding for our future and especially the future of those in the Middle East to remove troops and leave Iraq completely destabilized. A new plan will be implemented to help our troops get home as soon as possible.
It might help to remove the military contractors put in place by the likes of Haliburton. This will create more funding to our military and allow more funds to be spent on rebuilding infrastructure and satisfying the basic needs of the Iraqi population.
