Avigdor Lieberman , Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister from the ultra-nationalist Yisrael Beitenu party, has said that Israeli-Arabs should be expelled from Israel to make the nation a homogeneous Jewish country. Arabs make up about 20 percent of Israel’s population.
Lieberman praised Cyprus for their ethnic division and said it is “the best model” to follow. He suggested that predominantly Arab areas of Israel should be removed and annexed to a future Palestinian state while Israel would incorporate illegal Jewish settlements from the West Bank. Lieberman’s racist agenda was condemned by Israeli-Arab politicians.
In an interview with Britain’s Sunday Telegraph newspaper, Lieberman unapologetically stated that, “Minorities are the biggest problem in the world.” Lieberman made no mention of the discriminatory laws and military actions carried out against Arabs in both Israel and Palestine. Rather, his solution to resolve all conflict was purely race-based. He continued, “I think separation between two nations is the best solution. Cyprus is the best model. Before 1974, the Greeks and Turks lived together and there were frictions and bloodshed and terror. After 1974, they constituted all Turks on one part of the island, all Greeks on the other part of the island and there is stability and security.”

[…] Olmert, hypocritically accused Iran of “fanaticism and extremism,” voiced support for United States-led efforts to impose UN sanctions on Iran and said Tehran must not be allowed to “cross the technological threshold” to develop a nuclear bomb. Israel itself has between 75-200 nuclear weapons, but has never confirmed nor denied their existence. “Iran’s role in the conversation was quite clear, very serious and very significant, and I left this meeting with an outstanding feeling,” said Olmert.
