Several Republican sources have reported that Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman will step down at the end of the year. An anonymous source said “it would be wrong to call it a done deal,” but that Mehlman’s departure is a good possibility. In fact, the White House is already searching for another replacement. It’s been suggested that outgoing Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele, who just lost a US Senate race, may replace Mehlman. It is also possible that the RNC will split leadership duties, with an operative to run day-to-day affairs and a former office-holder as the general chairman.

Why the long face Ken? I personally suggest they replace Mehlman with another self-loathing homosexual (perhaps Mary Cheney?) to continue the trend of hypocrisy. Who do you guys think should replace him?
