In response to anti-Syrian protests held after the assassination of Pierre Gemayel, tens of thousands of Hezbollah supporters flooded the streets of Beirut. They showed their support for Hasan Nasrallah, the Hezbollah leader, by chanting “Nasrallah don’t worry, your Shias can drink blood.” However, the protest did not please Hezbollah. Nasrallah himself urged supporters via television to stop the demonstrations and begged them to �leave the streets�.
