The Daily Show won’t be back for awhile, but I’ve decided to post an older clip anyway for those of you who are having withdrawals.

With Bush ready to send more troops into a war we can’t win militarily, it’s important to understand how and why we got here. Rajiv Chandrasekaran, author of “Imperial Life in the Emerald City“, says winning “hearts and minds” might not have been such an impossible dream had the appointed Americans in post-conflict Iraq not been so incompetent. We passed the fork in the road, waving farewell to the path of Iraqi stability, and darted straight ahead into chaos. Freedom and democracy never took hold in Iraq because of our actions, not theirs.
