On the anniversary of Gitmo, Colbert celebrates the occasion by mocking the “hippy” opposition. During an interview, the executive director of HRW, Ken Roth, defends the right of prisoners to a fair trial. Roth points out that Gitmo, like the Iraq War, has actually increased terrorism by breeding ill-will towards the United States. However, Colbert cares nothing for this, as taking comfort in the discomfort of his enemies takes precedence over his concern for national security.

Noam Chomsky also has some interesting things to say regarding the rights which the Justice Department claims they have, and how those rights affect the civil liberties of all citizens of the United States. He also mentions reports to build execution chambers in Gitmo.
