On both The Colbert Report and The Daily Show, the topic of the night was the circus surrounding Senator Boxer’s remarks to Secretary Rice. Boxer made the point that neither herself, Rice, nor anyone in congress or the administration is truly affected by the war policies they’re implementing. This disconnect has become increasingly evident the more this administration continues to go directly against the will of the American people. However, rather than focus on the reality of the situation which Boxer was arguing, Tony Snow and his band of neo-con pundits decided to have a different argument over feminism and personal attacks (the verbal kind, not the literal personal attacks our soldiers are enduring in Iraq).

The fascist right is feigning outrage over what they wished Boxer had said. What are they really upset about? Probably the fact that anyone would have the audacity to challenge the rationale of Queen Condi and King George as they continue sending more men on horseback to the front lines of machine gun fire. Condi’s approval of this escalation will result in more death while failing to make one step towards progress, and people are blasting Boxer for being insensitive?

Stewart’s money quote: “And if you think that the senators are mad now, you should’ve seen how mad they weren’t when they actually had a chance to affect war policy a couple of years ago…”
