Yesterday�s interview with Colbert was the nail in the coffin for O�Reilly, mark it on your calendars. Anyone who thought Colbert would simply play dead for Bill would’ve been surprised to see the “Mission Accomplished” banner in the background. Right off the bat, Stephen remarked that he left the Daily Show because of Stewart sexually harassing him, a reference to the trouble Bill got into for his inappropriate behavior with former producer Andrea Mackris.Unfortunately for us, O’Reilly remained rather calm throughout the interview. The only way Bill retained any dignity was to act like someone else, rather than the resistant “culture warrior” we all know and love. Had O�Reilly gotten loud and belligerent, as he does on his own show, Colbert would�ve only matched that reaction with his own O�Reilly impression.Over the years, Bill O�Reilly has lost all credibility in the public arena with his unapologetic incivility and determination to back the same crippled horse race after race. Even his audience has shifted from neocons watching for ideological support to moderates watching for pure entertainment. However, it seems Bill is aware of this shift, and is attempting to monopolize on his own absurdity. By recognizing the validity of the Colbert Report with his visit, O�Reilly has seemingly admitted that he is indeed a joke. Now there are two entertainers satirizing Bill O�Reilly, Colbert and O�Reilly himself.
