Press Secretary Tony Snow went up against some actual reporters yesterday at a White House press briefing. Shocking, I know. The administration claims Iranian weapons were brought into Iraq with the approval of senior Iranian officials. This contradicts yesterday’s statement by Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace that there is no evidence the Iranian government is behind this smuggling.

A heated exchange ensued between Snow and reporters pointing out the misleading information the administration seems to be full of. Bush says he “intends to do something” about Iranian weapons ending up in Iraqi hands, yet still refuses to talk to Iran. How exactly do you resolve a situation without talking Mr. Bush?

CNN’s Ed Henry asked Snow, “Is it really a question about whether or not you have strong evidence, when the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff seems to be saying something different than the White House, does that raise questions about how solid this evidence is?”

  1. Well it’s about fucking time!!
I think the last line Snowman said was the most telling:
“…it’s not a transparent government, it’s an opaque government.”

The reasoning being, of course, that because the Kuds are part of the government, then that represents full sanction and autherization of the government. Seems to make sense, if not for the obscene lack of evidence…
