In perhaps the most suggestive snack food promotion since Corn Nuts’ “Bust a Nut” campaign, a company with the initials B and J have promised to put “the sweet taste of liberty in your mouth”. That’s the slogan for Ben & Jerry’s “Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream,” a new ice cream flavor honoring the political satirist. The flavor consists of vanilla ice cream embedded with caramel and fudge-covered waffle cone pieces.

Colbert’s ultra-right alter ego ironically joins the ranks of Jerry Garcia, Wavy Gravy, and Phish in Ben & Jerry’s flavor lineup. “I’m not afraid to say it. Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda,” Colbert said in a statement. “What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case.” Proceeds from the ice cream will be donated to the new Stephen Colbert Americone Dream Fund, which will distribute the money to various causes.
