Former NBA player John Amaechi was on Real Time to discuss his new book and Hardaway’s comments. Amaechi says the incident is important not only for book sales, but to highlight the problem of homophobia in America with such a high profile star as the posterboy. He also finds it contemptible that minority groups are so discriminatory towards each other.

I find it a bit ironic that during Black History Month we would get to experience some very high profile bigoted remarks, showing us just how far we have yet to go. From Biden’s “compliment” towards Obama, to Hardaway’s outright hatred of gays. Too bad the Grey’s Anatomy guy and Kramer couldn’t hold their remarks until February too.
