Dammit. Judging by the most recent Simpsons and Family Guy episodes, Sunday was apparently Make Fun of a Redneck Day and no one reminded me. Fortunately, I celebrated early by posting this clip last month.

In this episode, the late great Carl Sagan makes an appearance to point out the lunacy (pun intended) of fundamentalist Christians who think that scientific fact is anti-Christian. Next we’re treated to a scene of the mayor of Quahog sitting around during a time of crisis and reading My Pet Goat for a photo-op, just as Bush did on 9/11. Oh it’d be funnier if it wasn’t true. Lastly, Tom Tucker and Diane Simmons depict the typical fear-mongering news anchors we know and love. Rather than report the news, they bring us entertaining visuals and hypotheticals for the sake of ratings. Did someone say Anna Nicole?
