Apparently, Hugo Chavez is not alone in thinking Bush is the devil. On Monday, President Bush is scheduled to visit the Iximche archaeological site in Guatemala. Mayan priests have said they will purify the sacred site to eliminate the negative aura after his visit. Iximche, which will host the third summit of Latin American Indians at the end of March, was the capital of the Kaqchiqueles kingdom before the Spanish arrived.
Juan Tiney, the director of a Mayan nongovernmental organization said, “That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture.” Tiney, who has close ties to Mayan religious and political leaders, said the Mayan community has decided it would be necessary to cleanse the sacred site of “bad spirits” after Bush’s visit so that their ancestors could rest in peace.
Even before his plane touched the ground, Bush’s visit sparked violent clashes between protesters and police in Brazil. Prior to his Sunday visit to Bogota, Columbia, 200 masked students battled 300 riot police with rocks and small homemade explosives. Bush has been surrounded by a virtual sea of protesters during his journey through Latin America. Bush’s tour is meant to steal some thunder from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez who’s called him “history’s greatest killer”. Instead of making new friends, Bush has only proven Chavez right by leaving a path of destruction in his wake.

Hey — this is really cool. Why do they have to let GW go there at all? Do they have to let him in? Oh well. Maybe he’ll get eaten up by something. But, cool article.
