Colbert touches on the fact that DC residents don’t have a vote in Congress. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton argues that the people of DC are being denied their most basic democratic right to have representation. Republicans obviously want to deny that right since the vote of that district would not be on their side of the aisle. Apparently, conservatives think it’s fair to send citizens without a vote to die for the country denying them that right. Oh well, perhaps after those troops bring democracy to Iraq they can bring some back to their own American neighborhoods.
