If you’ve ever been to MoveOn.org, you know that they’re simply a self described progressive organization which is about as liberal as Hillary Clinton. MoveOn serves as the mouthpiece for wealthy candidates in the Democratic Party, and is often criticized by real liberals for claiming to be the political voice for the disenfranchised. In this clip, Democratic Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich explains why he disagrees with the leadership of MoveOn and the leadership of the Democratic Party. To be honest, I didn’t know much about Kucinich when he announced his candidacy, but the more I hear the more I like. Here is info on HR 1234, Kucinich’s plan to end the war in Iraq.
Visit Kucinich’s website to learn more about him.

So maybe I’ll eat shit when I say this :) But yes, there a few screws in the game who posses intelligence. Dennis is one of them. His plan mirror’s Kennedy’s initial withdrawl plan for Vietnam that he initiated just before he died (and it was reversed 3 days later).
I think his solution is a great solution… but I want to play devil’s advocate and throw out another approach. I was thinking that maybe we pull out all the volunteer troops, close the bases but leave the independent mercenaries behind to help in the transition of power.
Speaking to various Iraqi’s over the years, they all told me one interesting thing that we may want to take into consideration. They all said that the Iraqi people, having been citizens of a dictatorship, respond to force more than laxidasical “police actions.” Insurgencies will continue so long as non-Iraqi’s are in the streets with guns, whether they’re Americans, Brits, UN troops, whatever.
By leaving Dyncorp and other notable mercenary contractors behind, the US could still have a say in policy, be in control of the situation and the mercenaries wouldn’t be subjected to the rules of war placed on them. Thus, they can use drastic tactics to fight insurgency in the Walter E. Kurtz mold. Meanwhile, all the government contractors are somewhat satisfied because they’re still writing checks back and forth to the companies that contract the mercs and everyone gets their money.
None of this will ever happen but it’s fun to play along huh?
