The Daily Show covers the recently passed spending bill aimed to end combat operations by next September. The bill contains billions of dollars in unrelated spending. It’s stuffed with more pork than Al Gore’s midnight sandwich. Sorry Al. One such example is the $74 million spent on peanut storage in the Iraq Appropriations Bill. I’ve been saying for years that we need to curb our dependency on foreign peanuts.

Stewart then moves away from the Peanut Gallery and on to Attorney General Gonzales’ bold-faced lies. Well, perhaps I’m judging Gonzales too quickly on account of his inconsistencies. After all, the White House says it’s more likely that “he doesn’t recall having recollections about having deliberative discussions”. Yeah, now that’s the stuff.

By the way, I know it’s not technically perjury since Gonzales wasn’t under oath, but try and suspend your criticism over the title for the sake of alliteration.
