  • Today brings us a new, but not-so-surprising break in the Pat Tillman cover-up. Turns out the cover-up did make it all the way up to the White House. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, chief of the Army’s Special Operations Command, informed to Gen. John Abizaid, chief of U.S. Central Command, that Bush and other senior officials in the White House should know the truth about Tillman’s friendly fire death. Crooks and Liars have a nice summary about it, and the SF Chronicle has a very complete story to check out. Pat Tillman, a former Safety for the Arizona Cardinals died in friendly fire in Afghanistan, April 22nd, 2004 at age 27. His family was informed of his death 4 weeks later after initial reports of an enemy fire death. Since then we have witnessed a mishandling of this situation by almost every U.S. official involved. Respect and acknowledgment to the Tillman Family… we are with you!
  • Let’s take a look at the current state of presidential fundraising. GOP presidential candidate Mit Romney currently leads the GOP with a reported $21 mil in the first quarter. Next, we have Rudolph Giuliani with $15 mil, followed by John McCain in third place with $12.5 mil. Yes, even Senator McCain, one of the only people in the world who can safely walk the streets of Baghdad, can’t out raise his friends in the GOP. Hillary and Edwards have published their figures. Obama’s figures are soon to be on the way. Hillary seems to be way out in front with $25 mil…but, um, The Huffington Post has a good article on fundraising accounting and basic math. I am so glad that we are taught this in elementary school. I was starting to wonder if anyone in the media used it.
  • And just in case you wondered what the strangest thing was Kieth Richards has ever snorted… now we all know (not that you ever really wanted too know). Maybe before he leaves this planet, Richards can top even himself. Oh by the way, he snorted his FATHER’s CREMATED ASHS. April fools day was just two days ago, but that’s what he said.
  • Just in case that wasn’t quite weird enough, Michael Jackson wants a giant Jacko robot in Vegas, which shoots lasers, to be the first thing inbound flights would see. It would be part of a larger show that he is trying to stage in light of a pending come back. Someone should tell him that a Euro Jacko robot would be a better business decision. In some European clubs, Billy Jean is still guaranteed to play at least five times a night… it’s a classic. Even Borat knows Jacko! Its a niiiccccccceeee…!
  • A TGV train traveling from Paris to Strasbourg broke a new record for a train on tracks when it hit 356.6 MPH. The Japanese hold the absolute train speed record with a magnetic levitation train with 361.01 in 2003. From Paris to Strasbourg it will now only take 2 hrs and 20 minutes instead of 4 hours. Send the TGV train over to LA. We could use it to go from the Valley to the West Side and vice versa. Even if it still took 2hrs and 20 minutes to do that 20 mile trip, that would still be an improvement.
  • Speaking of speed… Remember KITT from Knight Rider? Of course you do, and just in time for the 25th anniversary of the show. One of four original “camera cars” from the 80s show Knight Rider has been restored and is for sale $149,995. It only took 10 years and about $148,995. It would be worth it though… KITT probably couldn’t get me through West LA traffic faster than a TGV train, but at least I’d be cruising in style… especially with a working red scanner just like in the show. Insert KITT scanner sound here.
