- Well, it’s not exactly Gitmo treatment, but the sailors held by Iran are now saying they were blindfolded, bound, kept in isolation, and warned that they could face 7 years in jail. Does anyone else find it ironic that the claims of good treatment are being condemned as a “media stunt” during a UK press conference on how bad the treatment was? So do we believe the propaganda of the UK which seeks to demonize Iran, or the propaganda of Iran which seeks to paint itself as saintly? Oh, if only there was some way to be skeptical of both.
- In western Ramadi, a truck loaded with TNT and toxic chlorine gas rammed into a police checkpoint and detonated, killing 27 people and wounding dozens. In the south of the country, a type of roadside bomb which killed 4 British soldiers on Thursday is being attributed to - say it with me – Iran! Prime Minister Blair said, “Now it is far too early to say that the particular terrorist act that killed our forces was an act committed by terrorists that were backed by any elements of the Iranian regime, so I make no allegation in respect of that particular incident.” That’s a bit like saying, “Now I have no proof that your mother is a cheap whore who services drivers at the freeway offramp, so I won’t say that she is.”
- This is just nuts. Doctors at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center made a bit of a mistake when they removed Air Force veteran Benjamin Houghton’s healthy right testicle instead of his atrophied and cancerous left testicle. Houghton has filed a federal claim for $200,000. Sorry, I have no joke to follow that up with. I think I speak for every man by saying there’s nothing funny about losing your testicles. Let us observe a moment of silence.
- Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden says that New York City is “the epicenter of the AIDS epidemic” in the US. NYC is looking to introduce more access and information on the benefits of circumcision amid reports that it may reduce the risk of contracting the disease. The local hospital agency has not reached a decision on offering free procedures, but until we know more, don’t try the calamari at the hospital cafeteria.
- While we’re on the subject, Eritrea has officially banned female circumcision (which is an entirely different procedure from male circumcision). The UN estimates that about 3 million women are subjected to the practice every year with less than one percent of the procedures having been performed by people with medical training.
- The Defense Department has decided to send 12,000 additional troops to Iraq from four National Guard brigades. Anyone remember the slogan, “One weekend a month, two weeks a year”? Once the National Guard reserve force is stretched too thin, Secretary Gates has said that his next move will be to call upon the Kiss Army for active duty.

1). The Brits never cease to amaze me. For those of you who know your history, know that all this bullshit about wars for oil started with the Brits and the Brits are still leading the way. I guess they’ll say just about anything to get that going.
2). Regarding the guy who lost his nuts. Does $200k really cover that? I mean, common now. A). It’s cancer B) It’s his nuts C). Aren’t doctors supposed to be good for something. Anyone who knows me, knows I hate doctors. Yes, break a leg, see a doctor get a cast, but other than that, I’m not a fan.
3). The Kiss Army. Classic. Classic. Here’s to what would amount to instant invasions and deaths on any RTS Video Game. Shit, even the gamers know better than to spread resources so thin.
