Any regular reader to the blog knows I hate hypocrites and people who pervert noble philosophies to justify their own hateful agenda. William Donahue is one such man (and I use the word loosely) who is right up there with O’Reilly in Douchedom. Donahue is an ultra-conservative who’s president of the Catholic League, a group founded to protect Catholics from the longstanding history of “defamation and discrimination” in America. However, Donahue is ironically doing more to defame Catholics than any other person. As a Catholic myself, I find it especially offensive that Donahue unleashes his ignorance and hate under the guise of Catholicism and Christianity in general.
And that ladies and gentlemen is why I was so happy to see Mr. Donahue in the latest South Park episode. The episode examines the relationship between Easter and the commercialized celebration of it by inventing one. Donahue appears first at about 8:40 and for the rest of the episode after the 13:20 mark. His unchristian nature is made very apparent as he even goes against Jesus to defend his fascist ideals.
Update: As expected, YouTube pulled the episode so you’ll have to visit the link below to see it.
While we’re on the topic of Easter and the cavities it brings, I thought it’d be relevant to present an example of Donahue at work. The clip below is of him attacking a Catholic artist, Cosimo Cavallaro, for creating a nude sculpture of Jesus out of chocolate. I wonder if the artist had used white chocolate instead, whether such a fuss would be made. If Donahue didn’t act like this all the time, I’d be tempted to say he lost his mind. He also seems to have missed the point Cavallaro was making with a chocolate Jesus, sculpted after a figure whose resurrection has been obscured by the very candy he’s made from. In my opinion, the work has a very Christian message behind it, but Donahue is too busy being outraged to consider the possibility that he’s neither the pope nor an art critic.
“My Sweet Lord”
WWJD? Apparently he’d destroy the livelihood of someone he disagrees with, then hurl childish insults at them.
And here’s a video relevant to the relevant video: Tom Waits - Chocolate Jesus

Wow, I’m going to have to come back and actually read these books above my comment when I have the time!
But seriously, my attitude toward fascist zealots like Donahue is actually starting to change. I actually want more of these idiots around, (Bill O’Reilly and Ann Coulter, I’m talking to you too!) because it really takes the work out of proving what kind of hypocritical dipshits they are!

The guy is a Professional Artist. That IS his job. Isn’t it amazing that we have to explain things like this to people like that as though we were explaining to a 5 year old?
