Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has been subpoenaed by the House Judiciary Committee to force him to turn over documents, emails, and other information regarding the firings of several federal prosecutors. The House Judiciary Committee stated that it had been patient with the Attorney General’s office, but that they had not been willing to fulfill their needs. Gonzales is also preparing to appear before a Senate panel next Tuesday.

One official said the request included the full text of some documents that had been blacked out in the Justice Department’s initial release of more than 3,000 pages last month, as well as some evaluations of the prosecutors. Continued searches of computer hard drives throughout the department could also turn up relevant documents.
