- When you’re running for president you have to make sure the media portrays you in a positive light. In some countries this means having strong public relations in your campaign, for Vladimir Putin it means shutting down websites that are critical of you.
- Presidential candidates Clinton and Obama follow the lead of fellow contender John Edwards in refusing to participate in a Fox News debate.
- The Chinese, according to themselves, are smack in the middle of a great industrial revolution. What better way to demonstrate your industrial prowess than to speed up the often slow process of executing people, especially when you do more of it than anyone else. - Don’t you hate it when a country detains foreign nationals illegally and “tortures” them to obtain information? No silly, I’m not talking about Iran capturing British soldiers, I’m talking about Americans capturing an Iranian diplomat.
- Check out a great dust-up at the LA Times opinion section where Martini Republic editor Joseph Mailander faces off against Peter Dreier about the Los Angeles Housing Crisis. Today’s battle is entitled “Regulating our way to prosperity?” Tune in for some good debate on fundamental economic theory and application. Anyone that rents in LA should care about these issues.
- In other news, a DNA tests reveal that some guy is the father of a baby. Further tests reveal that nobody ever wants to hear about this damn sideshow anymore. Well, maybe some people do, but not the authors of this blog, or probably their readers. Hence, forget the last three sentences ever existed.
