In a stunning display of bipartisanship, President Bush has agreed to come to a compromise with the Democrats… as long as they abandoned their goals and fully adopt his. The president claimed he wanted to cooperate with Democrats on a piece of legislation to fund the war, but “the Decider” made it clear that such a deal would consist of him dictating and Congress taking note.

Bush stated that he would veto the $124.2 billion measure passed by Congress last week because it contains timetables. “But that’s not the only bad thing about the bill,” he said. It also imposes the judgment of people in Washington on our military commanders and diplomats. It also adds domestic spending that’s unrelated to the war. I have made my position very clear. The Congress chose to ignore it, and so I will veto the bill.”

After he vetoes the bill, the president says he will be ready to work on a new version with Democrats which does not include parts he doesn’t like. He further reiterated his position by saying he would veto any future bill with timetables.
