Brownback, Tancredo, and Huckabee all raised their hands, and these people want to be the next leader of the free world? Look at how McCain hesitates as he worries about offending his base, which he knows are morons.

  1. He sure had the deer in the headlights look there, lol.

And what’s with the three who don’t believe in evolution. Has the reep party really gotten this crazed? I know the answer is yes, sad to say.

  2. I couldn’t watch either of the debates, but it seems to me there wasn’t much debating involved. I wish the candidates would actually challenge each other on issues like this. What I don’t get is that it seems it would also make for much more interesting television (and thus higher ratings), so why are the networks so opposed to real discussions? Sad indeed.

  3. In short, the entire Republican “debate” consisted of the candidates answering this question: “Tell us why you’re gay for Ronald Reagan and how much you hate the Clintons”. Ron Paul was the only one with a differing opinion from everyone else, though he didn’t exactly call the other candidates out on their bullshit the way Gravel did against the Democrats.

Why don’t the networks hold real debates? Well, I assume the same powers controlling the major networks also have financial interests in the top tier candidates. A real debate would crush Obama, Edwards, Clinton, McCain, or Giuliani so they’re better off having a beauty pageant instead. If someone like Kucinich won the presidency it’d be devastating to big business.

  5. Did you ever consider that it’s not a yes or no question that the asker was requesting a yes or no response for? Do I agree with evolution? Parts of it. Some parts have been proven wrong and are absolute bullsh*t.

  6. @Matt: I agree, the question itself is bullshit. One does not “believe” in Evolution any more than one “believes” in Geology, Atomic Theory, or Gravity. These are Scientific concepts which operate on fact and evidence, not “belief.” Belief is the realm of Religion, and, despite what the media and the Christians will tell you, science is Not a religion.
    Period.

PS-I don’t mean to pick on Christianity, again, but in this country that is the form religious fanaticism has taken. You may find it rather ironic that in the middle east, islamic fanaticism has called evolution a “Christian Conspiracy against the Muslims.”
    Go figure!
