Hillary has once again convinced her base of hopefully misguided weekend-feminists and hawkish pro-war Democrats that she is infallible. To this end, Clinton has called on Congress to repeal authorization for the Iraq war, a move which would accomplish nothing other than to help her presidential campaign. Colbert gives her a well-deserved beating.
Hillary has said before that she is willing to lose the support of anti-war Democrats than to apologize for the bloody destabilization she helped cause, so this latest move seems geared more towards silencing liberals than winning them back. Good luck with that Mrs. Thatcher. I’ve always thought it was odd that the Neocons would hate a woman who’s so similar to themselves.
Colbert’s Money Quote: “There’s only one thing that would give this dangerous woman more credibility with Democratic voters, and that would be if she came out and said her first vote was a mistake - but, I think we all know time travel is more likely than that.”

The thing with Hillary is, she is sqeezing the strong undercurrent of misogyny to the surface. The constant implication that someone who is even considering voting for Hillary, is feminist, is just cheap. Whatever the current issue, what does one’s sex have to do with critical analysis of the topic? Hah? This kind of talk puts down women as a whole, i.e. women who would vote for a woman. It is so sutle it is almost missed. Let us make no mistake, we are making assumpitions about an entire gender, not political affiliaition.
With our PC, everybodies fine cultural affirmations, it’s about time this resentment starts rearing it ugly head.

There are many reasons not to vote for Hilary other than her being a woman. I’m not voting for her because she’s a Democrat and a feminist. That’s even more socialist than they others alone! Not wanting to vote for Hilary because she’s a feminist has nothing to do with her being a woman. I know in your mind, Jane, having contempt and hatred for feminists is the same thing as having contempt and hatred for women (misogyny); but feminists do not stand for and represent all women. There are sound political, moral, and economic reasons to oppose Hilary’s socialist policies. Jane, your lame attempts to quiet opposing views is disturbing but expected. Putting down Hilary, and those who would vote for Hilary, is not the same as putting down women as a whole. You might like to think that’s the case, but you’re just being delusional. Do yourself a favor and take off those feminist/socialist blinders you’ve been wearing for so long. Look around you, actually listen to those who disagree with you, and maybe you’ll discover that there’s more to this world than you’ve dreamed of in your philosophies.

@Jane
Misogyny has never needed to be “squeezed” to the surface. It’s usually sitting right on top with it’s ugliness for all to see. However, misogyny has nothing to do with this topic. As Ivy pointed out, you’re simply wrong to state that criticism of Hillary “puts down women as a whole”. Must we also then say that criticism of Obama and Richardson is racist or that arguing against Israeli policy is antisemitic?
I might also point out that no one is “making assumptions about an entire gender”, or even an entire movement. Notice I wrote her base consists of “misguided weekend-feminists”; not simply feminists in general - as the feminist movement has a wide array of differing opinions. Hillary is not being bashed simply because she’s a woman, but she’s often supported because of it. It doesn’t take much searching on the internet to find seemingly pro-feminist arguments supporting Clinton based solely on the fact that she’s a woman. That kind of hive mentality is what’s truly sexist and detrimental to women as a whole.
