Stewart and Aslan discuss the Goldilocks equation Bush has applied to Iraq, in which the definition of success is reliant upon the president’s own secretive measure of what the perfect number of car bombings is. Aslan backs the very unpopular idea that the only hope we have to prevent genocide in Iraq is getting Iran and Syria involved. We are not stuck in a quagmire, just in outdated thinking.

Aslan then exposes the secret that Iran is “the most vibrant, the most robust, and the most successful democracy in the Middle East outside of Israel”. He accurately describes how the democratic institutions thriving in Iran are constantly under threat by the Bush administration, which is pushing all Muslim nations further towards the fundamentalist right. Me thinks that should the Iranian people become successful in establishing a true democratic government that America would be the first to topple it as we did in 1953 against PM Mossadegh. With our corporate and AIPAC-controlled foreign policy, the Iranians are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
