The Reverend Falwell’s long battle with purse-toting Tinky Winky of the Teletubbies has come to an end. The man we have to thank for using the Republican Party to break down the barriers between church and state died shortly after being found unconscious in his office at Liberty University. It is believed that the 73-year-old reverend died from heart complications.

Falwell credited his political lobby, the Moral Majority, with electing Ronald Reagan to the White House, who began the process of de-secularizing America. The Moral Majority grew to 6.5 million members who raised millions of dollars in the effort to turn America into a fundamentalist theocracy.

After 9/11 Falwell blamed feminists, gays, lesbians, and various liberal groups for the terrorist attacks. After the 2004 elections he formed the Faith and Values Coalition as the “21st Century resurrection of the Moral Majority,” to elect fundamentalist politicians and the like, along with the new goal to seek a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

Needless to say, the douchebag will be sorely missed.

  1. He’ll be missed by Tom Metzger, Bush senior, and Phyllis Superfly.

  2. It’s a real good thing he was religious, because he’ll find no forgiveness from me.

This was one of leading Christian-fascists of the United States, founder of the Moral Majority and the driving force behind the Christian Political clout that runs our country today. This is the man that blamed the attacks on 9/11 on feminists, gays, and abortions. This is the man who called the Prophet Muhammed a terrorist on national TV. This is the man who insists that the “jury is still out” on the climate crisis. This is the man who sees no difference between Charles Darwin and Satan.

I’m sorry for his family’s loss, but I cannot mourne this man. A man who devoted his life to finding divine justification for hate, intolerance, war, and imperialism. He believed in a forgiving God, however, and if He is merciful, he will find forgiveness.

But I am not God. I will not forgive him. I cannot show mercy to someone who was in life so merciless. And while many in the nation mournes, I cannot help but feel good this day.

Goodbye, Mr. Falwell, and good riddance.

  3. Oh yeah, I forgot he also blamed the pagans and ACLU for 9/11. What a great man.
