Olbermann delivers a righteous ass-whoopin’ to the Democratic Party for their pro-war policies.

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but by now it ought to be painfully obvious that the Democratic Party is a pro-war party. What’s different between them and the Republicans is that this pro-war party has an anti-war base. This leads the Democratic leadership to create the façade that they’re simply inept at stopping the war, rather than successful at prolonging it with continued funding. The Democrats are known for being weak and conceding to conservatives the same way Alberto Gonzales or Bush are known for being incompetent or stupid. It’s all an act to keep their real motives hidden. Both sides play on the unquestioning loyalty of their constituents to accomplish the exact opposite goals they promised to achieve.

By dropping the timelines for withdrawal, the true motives of the Democratic Party have been revealed to the Democratic base. More Democrats are finally waking up to the fact that the “good cop” and the “bad cop” are on the same team. Yet some naďve voters and bloggers are still praying for the Dems to save the world. It’s not going to happen. The Democratic Party holds allegiance only to money and votes, not to any ethical set of ideals.

Though Olbermann gave fellow liberals a much-needed reality check, his omission of Kucinich is almost criminal when he claims no Democratic presidential candidates are willing to stand up and speak the truth. Dennis has been against this war from the jump, and has never voted to fund it. In fact, Dennis invoked the rarely used House rule of personal privilege yesterday morning to address Congress on “the Congressional and White House efforts to privatize the oil of Iraq”. The one hour speech was broadcast on C-Span. It’s absolutely infuriating that Olbermann would denounce mainstream candidates for not posing an alternative, while failing in his own actions to give media attention to the candidate who does offer that alternative.

Luckily, The Young Turks gave Kucinich some airtime on their radio show before he addressed Congress.

Warning: The sound doesn’t sync up, and that may just be the last straw for those furious with the state of both parties.

  1. The Kucinch comment is a good one, though Olberman is otherwise spot on. The leadership dems are starting get me really distressed. Its not just Iraq, but also the dithering and weakening of campaign finance reform.

(Don’t know if you know this, but your site can be jumpy - especially when I comment here. I don’t know jack technically, so I can only point this out.)

  2. Olberman makes an excellent point. You see, if the Democrats had decided not to be fuckin’ pussies and stood their ground, here’s what would have happened: The funding for the war runs out, and military has no choice but to leave!
But instead, the Bush administration threatened to keep the troops in Iraq, regardless of funding. This was probably the deciding factor for a lot of Dems, since it seemed obvious that the president was actually willing to sacrifice our fighting men and women for the sake of his policy, and these Dems probably figured that, since the Prez will keep them there anyway, it’d just be better to get the funding to them then leave them stranded.
    Understandable, but utterly pussy-whipped.
Grow some fucking nuts, you asses, and look at this the way that Olberman has accurately described this: The President threatened the lives and safety of our troops for no other gain than his own ideology. This is a Treasonous Act, and, if nothing else, is simply one more charge to add to the case for IMPEACHMENT!!

Over 70% of Americans, there is no clearer or obvious mandate. What the fuck are you guys doing?
