As we’ve been told, “reality has a well-know liberal bias”. Unfortunately, Colbert’s characterization of a blissfully ignorant Republican mindset is right on the money. To conservatives, anything which contradicts their neatly wrapped concept of the world is part of a vast left-wing conspiracy. As Lewis Black points out, the right creates their own biased media to counter such inconvenient truths.
Black’s money quote: “You know what a fake news show on Fox News should give you? Real news!”

this is only half-right. if murdoch and co. were truly “conservative,” they would be backing someone like ron paul instead of giuliani…who is anything *but* conservative, and so far they have done nothing but portray paul’s traditional republican ideas (especially about non-intervention and abolishing the income tax) as pretty much insane. murdoch and co. are actually neo-conservative, and the neo-conservative philosophy is heavily influenced by thinkers like Trotsky (the idea of a “permanent revolution”) and is generally leftist in the sense that it wants to promote democracy by force…and what is democracy except mob-rule, i.e. the dictatorship of the proletariat? if the so-called “republicans” were *really* republican, they would be trying to restore the constitution and the republic, instead of replacing it. in actuality, both the democrats and the republicans are both liberal organizations, in that they both champion big government and big spending. where is the true small government conservative among them?

@Bon
Neo-conservative philosophy is capitalist imperialism. Neither are liberal ideals, despite what Reagan and Bush senior have said. You denounce the bastardization of Republican ideals, but then do the same with Liberalism. All forms of Liberalism aim to empower everyone with individual liberties. The Neocon ideology, which empowers only the wealthiest one percent, is as far from true Liberalism as I can imagine.
