Chertoff Loves Terror

If the US Homeland Security secretary has a “gut feeling” wouldn’t you suspect he’d alert his agency so that they can take preventative measures, rather than the American public? What does that accomplish other than scare the crap out of voters waiting on edge for the next 9/11?

It’s no surprise that Republicans use terrorist attacks to their political advantage, but does that create a conflict of interest for Neocons in charge of preventing such attacks? Chertoff operates in an opposite way than you’d expect someone in his position to act. When there’s no evidence of a future attack, he tells everyone the sky is falling. When there IS evidence, he keeps it a secret. For example, intelligence reports received by US law enforcement officials warned about terrorist attacks in Glasgow on “airport infrastructure or aircraft” two weeks before the event took place. Prague was also mentioned.

Chertoff and the White House still claim they knew nothing of the threats, but officials say the warnings were indeed received and kept secret for “operational reasons”. Air marshals were added to American flights in both Glasgow and Prague in response to the intelligence reports, but the Chief of Police in Glasgow has said he was not informed of any planned attack on their Airport. The White House obviously wanted it to happen and took no action to prevent it.
