Stewart prefaces his analysis of the Attorney General’s testimony to Congress with the fact that Josh Bolton and Harriet Miers were cited with Contempt of Congress by the House Judiciary Committee for refusing to testify under oath about the US attorney firings, but that the citation will never come to be since it’s Gonzales’ job to enforce it. With all the stupid moves these people have made, I’m almost compelled to applaud when something this genius, albeit evil, is revealed. As was the case with previous Gonzales hearings, there is plenty of dodging, contradiction, and withdrawn admissions of guilt in this most recent encounter. To sum it up, the administration does what it chooses and answers to no one since they’ve done away with congressional oversight.
Stewart’s Money Quote: “So if I can get this straight, and I’m sure I can’t. Alberto Gonzales is saying basically there are problems, of which he can not speak, for which he is responsible, yet not to blame, and that he is the only one who can clean up the mess… that he can neither confirm nor deny exists.”

The Steward Show rules and the Bush administration drools, all over the Constitution.
Steward has the best writers in “mock” television news bar none. Though Fox News gives them a run for imagination.
But in the end it’s shame on Bush for making the job too easy, mocking him and the gang that wouldn’t shoot straight is like pointing at ducks and describing them in detail.

Where are the other news stations covering this circus? It obviously makes great ratings having high-ranking public officials at each other’s throats, the cover-ups and mystery, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

I agree. It’s been covered sparingly in the printed press, but as usual, the televised media has failed horribly.

You know, the sad thing is we are only seeing the tip of the ice burg. The mass media is not providing any news, they throw out and force feed us pablum. Thanks Stewart for providing the truth.
