Jon Stewart covers the LOGO Democratic Presidential Forum, which was a great opportunity for America to learn more about where Melissa Ethridge stands on the issues. Stewart summed up the forum perfectly by stating, “at the debate, the Democratic candidates were trying to reassure the gay community how much they support them, while reassuring the rest of the country that they don’t completely support them.” With the exception of Gravel and Kucinich, everyone else was only there because they felt obligated.

Hillary, Obama, and Edwards all went on autopilot about equality while defending the doctrine of “separate but equal”. And yet, Richardson one-upped them all with the brilliant decision to tell a gay panel in front of a gay audience on a gay channel that homosexuality is a choice. It’s okay though because Richardson is “not a scientist”. Hell, neither are the Republicans who said they don’t believe in evolution, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that they think some of the people Jesus might have healed were the victims of dinosaur attack.

On a side note, it’s great to see The Daily Show not only giving airtime to Dennis Kucinich, but actually highlighting this particular difference between him and the rest of the candidates. From health care to impeachment, the little man with huge balls truly is the most progressive candidate. You can see the full gay presidential forum here, but Gravel and Kucinich are the only ones worth a gander. Much like another visionary named Jimi Hendrix, Kucinich is on point with everything he says, but it’d probably help if you dropped acid before attempting to fully appreciate his message of love.
