Bush’s Misinterpretation of History’s Lessons

Does the administration really think that comparing Iraq to Vietnam will rally America behind this war? It’s amazing that conservatives still think Vietnam was able to be “won,” or that we even had the right to be there. It ought to be well known by now that our involvement in Vietnam and Cambodia both created and encouraged further genocide. In that regard, I must agree the comparison with Iraq, in which we’re picking and switching sides in a complex civil war, is an accurate one.

Bush also displayed his misunderstanding of recent history by linking al-Qaeda and Osama to the Iraq War once again. He continued along that line by suggesting that we ought to base our policy in Iraq on the opinion of terrorists who will call us pussies if we leave. Outstanding strategy Mr. President. You’ve sold me on this war.
