Bill Maher interviewed both Republican Senator Chuck Hagel and Robert Draper, author of Dead Certain. Aside from those two conversations (videos 1 and 4), the rest of the show was pretty much filler. Then again, it is hard to follow up last week’s show which featured some honest disagreement and insight from guests Cornel West and Mos Def. Between the tiresome platitudes of Carl Bernstein, Jan Schakowsky, and Drew Carey, I was dying for a cameo from anyone who could bring just a little “maladjustment” to the table. Still, the show was at least humorous, despite the fact that Drew Carey was there.

I liked how Bill mentioned how if “universal healthcare is goo enough for the troops, it’s good enough for the rest of america.” Yeah, there is a guy who has never step foot in a local VA hospital in the states. I’m amazed that people think that since they cleaned up Walter Reed, it’s suddenly great for us vets. Fact of the matter, even with Walter Reed completely dropping the ball, it was the best VA hospital in the country. Most VA hospitals are either under staffed, underfunded, or lack the programs needed to meet the needs of us vets. You want universal healthcare this boned up? Shit just sign the dotted line. Makes more sense than the education benefits that don’t exists.
